As Hurrell leaned back, aiming to weave past Tetevano, the No.13 hits him with a horrific high shot.

Hurrell remains on the ground as players fly into a melee which resulted in backrower James Bentley receiving a yellow card.

Over 10 players from both sides were in the tussle, grabbing jerseys and two wrestles broke off, leaving the former Tongan international still on the ground.

“Oh deary me, Hurrell is clattered,” the commentator said.

“Well he was sent off against Saints last year Zane Tetevano for a late challenge… there it is Zane Tetevano sent off and he is given his marching orders against the champions once again.”

Tetevano is reportedly facing a long ban for the hit.

However, he wasn’t the only player to end up in the referees bad boys after Bodene Thompson and James Bentley were also sin binned in the clash, handing St Helens even more of an advantage.

St Helens went on to win the clash 42-12, in a match-up that included former NRL stars Curtis Sironen, Matt Prior, Aidan Sezer, Blake Austin and Panthers recruit Zak Hardaker.
